Many tourists and locals consider satay celup a favourite because there are more than 80 types of seafood and vegetables to choose from and the sauces are thick and aromatic.

Each satay stick is priced at RM0.50 - very reasonable and affordable...

Here are THREE places I found:

1) Restoran Ban Lee Siang Satay Celup

45E, Jalan Ong Kim Wee, Melaka

2) Capitol Satay Celup, the pioneer of satay celup in Melaka

41, Lorong Bukit Cina, Melaka

3) McQuek's Satay Celup

Not sure of the exact address but somewhere in Bandar Hilir, along Jalan Parameswara

As of the time of writing, I have tried and tasted restaurants 1 & 2 above and they are both excellent though I personally prefer Capitol.

I have passed by McQuek's but have not tasted yet.

What is your choice? Watch the video below:

In fact, the last time I visited Penang, I had char kway teow for lunch and dinner on the first day I arrived!

So, now back to the question:

Which is the best Char Kway Teow in Malaysia?

According to my taste buds, the typical char kway teow in Penang itself tastes about the same... and they are all good.

And believe it or not, there's one Penang char kway teow stall in Malaysia that's excellent and the most amazing thing is, it's NOT in Penang!

You might not believe it...

It's in Johor Bahru (J.B.) at Taman Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre. To get there, turn off the main road drive on the Tebrau Highway going north, then make a right turn at the traffic junction in front of Crystal Crown Hotel.

The Penang char kway teow stall that I refer to is in the centre row at the time of writing. Walk straight in the centre row about 10 to 15 stalls, and it is on your left (opposite the wan ton mee stall). Trust me, it's the BEST I ever tasted in all of Penang, KL or Melaka.

Oh yes... I love to hear from you, of course!

Which is the best CHENDOL in Malaysia?

I tried both chendol in Penang and Melaka within a few days during my trip to West Malaysia last week.

Have you tried both?

What's your verdict?

Here's mine...

The one in Melaka at Jalan Hang Jebat (viz. the famous Jonker Street) still taste better... with the 2nd being in Keng Kwee Street (off Jalan Penang).

I would love to hear your comments on this.
